University of Hyderabad VC goes on leave
Hyderabad, Jan 25 (IBNS): The University of Hyderabad (UoH) Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao has gone on a leave since Sunday, reports said.
Vipin Srivastava has been appointed as the in-charge VC in the absence of Rao.
The university has been witnessing severe protests since the suicide of a student Rohith Vemula.
Vemula had committed suicide at a hostel room of the university on Jan 17.
The death of Vemula, a backward caste student have raised agitations in the country, with many students body protesting against the incumbent government for negligence towards the backward caste.
