Malda violence: BJP delegation to meet President today
New Delhi, Jan 16 (IBNS) A delegation of BJP leaders is expected to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday over the violence in West Bengal's Malda district, where a huge mob set fire to the local police station earlier this month.
Reports said the delegation, including Siddharth Nath Sand Kailash Vijaywargiya, are likely to submit a memorandum seeking West Bengal Governor's report on the violence.
The BJP-led NDA government has asked the Mamata Banerjee government for a report on the January 3 mob violence in Kaliachak in Malda. The party had sent a team of Parliamentarians to Kalaichak, but the delegation was stopped by police from going there.
With the assembly elections in the state few months away, the BJP has planned a series of rallies from Monday. Senior ministers Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani will address rallies starting next Sunday while party president Amit Shah will address a public meeting in Howrah on January 25
