ISI officer asked me to recruit Indian Armymen to spy for Pak: David Headley
Mumbai, Feb 9 (IBNS) Spilling the beans, Laskhar-e-Toiba recruit and a convict for the 26/11 Mumbai attack, David Coleman Headley told a Mumbai Court on Tuesday that he was contacted by Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agents who asked him to recruit Indian Armymen to spy for them, according to reports.
Deposing before a Mumbai court and testifying from an undisclosed US location, Headley told the court and was quoted by NDTV as saying that an ISI agent Major Iqbal "asked me to recruit Indian Army personnel to spy for the ISI."
He also said that Major Abdul Rehman Pasha of Pakistan Army's 6 Baloch regiment had joined the Laskhar after his retirement. he later moved to the al Qaeda.
He had also spoken about Major Iqbal and Major Ali on Monday, his ISI contacts.
The revelation is said to bring out a clear image of Pakistan and its stance towards India and terrorism.
So far revelations have claimed Saeed as the mastermind and ISI's link towards the terror attack.
On Tuesday, he was quoted as saying by the news channel, "They had information about some meeting of Indian defence scientists in the conference hall off the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and they wanted to attack it... It was decided that I should go to India."
Speaking about his role, Headley said: "In this meeting, they assigned me the task of conducting recce of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai."
Headley has given out a chunk of information over his two day quizzing by the Indian court. On Monday he had identified Hafeez Saeed as the mastermind and leader of LeT and also said that he trained under Saeed and Lakhavi.
Speaking to the court, Headley revealed how he came under Saeed's influence and his journey began on 2002.
Dawood Gilani aka David Coleman Headley, was born in Pakistan. Now 55, he was 18 when he moved to the US and is a convict of the state.
He was arrested from the Chicago Airport in 2009 for his alleged connection with the Mumbai attack.
He is presently serving jail term in the US.
The attack in Mumbai had claimed 166 lives and left many injured.
