Foetal sex determination: Delhi HC rejects plea, woman decides to move apex court
New Delhi, Apr 26 (IBNS/Just Earth News) In a drive to get justice against abuse from her ex-spouse and his family members, Delhi based pediatrician, Mitu Khurana is all set to move to Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court rejected her plea on Monday citing technicalities, according to reports.
Accusing her in-laws of torture against her, she said that her ex-husband forced her to go through gender determination tests and later forced to abort her twins.
The lady however gave birth to the twins in 2005 and left her then-husband.
The doctor was quoted by India Today as saying that she has been fighting for the last 10 years and is determined to win the case not only for her but to set a benchmark for others to follow.
"I have been fighting for 10 years. I have lost my health, my profession, money, mental peace. If I give up today, it will harm several woman who have not been able to raise the voice so far."
Her case in the HC was rejected because she breached the time limit.
A maximum period of three years is granted for someone following the incident, during which one can report about it.
