Bhopal, June 29 (IBNS) After the death of Narendra Singh Tomar, another accused in the Vyapam scam of Madhya Pradesh- an admission and recruitment scam involving politicians, officials and businessmen- died on Sunday triggering strong reaction from the Opposition.
The Congress party has called for an independent probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter.
Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted: "Another accused of #VyapamScam found dead under mysterious conditions. Independent probe should investigate the deaths linked with the scam."
On Saturday, accused Narendra Singh Tomar breathed his last in Indore after complaining of chest pain.
On Sunday morning, Dr Rajendra Arya, 40, who was out on bail in the case, died at a hospital in Gwalior of liver infection.
At least 25 people who were allegedly involved with the scam have been found dead so far.
In May, pharmacist Vijay Singh, a key accused in the Vyapam scam concerning the unauthorised disposal of application forms for exams has been found dead in a lodge in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav's son, Shailesh, was also found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Alleged financial and administrative irregularities, including unauthorised disposal of application forms, worth crores of rupees by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) have been pointed out in an audit report.
Indore Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court earlier served notices to MPPEB and Medical Council of India (MCI) following a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by parents of some students after reports that more than 300 ineligible candidates managed to get into the merit list.
