Union minister Meghwal asked to appear before Jaipur court today
Jaipur, Nov 12 (IBNS): Union minister of state (MoS) for Panchayati Raj Nihal Chand Meghwal, who is accused by a woman of raping her three years ago, will have to appear in a court in Rajasthan on Wednesday, media reports said.
Meghwal was shifted from Chemicals and Fertilizers to Panchayati Raj in the cabinet expansion that took place on Sunday. He was never dropped despite the political controversy over the rape case.
A Jaipur court had ordered Meghwal and 16 others to appear in a case of rape and blackmail filed in June this year. But since then, the police reportedly did not serve any summons to the minister, sources said.
Meanwhile, Meghwal told NDTV in Delhi on Tuesday that he did not receive any summons so far.
In 2012, the Rajasthan police probed the complaint by the woman and accordingly closed the case. Later, the victim had moved court which issued summons to the minister and others named by her.
