Chennai, Feb 20 (IBNS) : Challenging the validity of Saturday's Trust vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, the Opposition DMK has moved the court, requesting for its cancellation, reports said.
A hearing on the petition, that describes the Trust vote as "illegal", will be heard in the Madras High Court on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Palaniswamy romped home through the trust vote by winning 122 votes after 88 DMK legislators were evicted by Speaker P Dhanapal for violence in the House.
The 11 votes against Palaniswamy were cast by the rebel faction in the ruling AIADMK, led by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
According to reports, DMK lawmakers have said that the trust vote is illegal because it was introduced twice - once in the morning and again after two adjournments in the house.
Violence and total anarchy marked the Trust vote with DMK supporters going on a rampage after Speaker P Dhanapal rejected their demand for secret ballots.
The DMK as well as AIADMK's rebel leader O Paneeselvam also requested for postponement of the Trust vote.
The Speaker went ahead with his decision and the Palaniswamy Governmnt won the trust voteamid violence and disorder that forced the adjournment of proceedings twice.
Chairs were thrown, tables toppled, papers thrown in the air and the Speaker's microphone was yanked by lawmakers. In the melee, the Speaker was manhandled and left the House with escorts.
Meanwhile, Governor C Vidyasagar Rao has sought a report from the Government on the Assembly violence.
