Six arrested in Bangalore road harassment of women
Bangalore, Nov 25 (IBNS): At least six men were arrested in the case of harassing of a group of five women in a car in Bangalore who were on a night out, police said on Tuesday.
The incident, which occurred on the MG Road itself in the heart of the city, was caught on cell phone camera by the women who were harassed and it went viral leading to the police arresting them.
Their arrest was confirmed in a press conference by Bangalore police commissioner M N Reddi.
In the video, that lasts for about 45 minutes, the group of women can be heard shouting for help while they were being harassed by the men.
The group of men were heard allegedly harassing the women and passing lewd comments.
To add on to the shame, passers-by not only ignored the women's pleas but some of the men could be seen smiling in the video.
The video was shot on a cellphone by one of five women.
They had gone out for dinner on Sunday night and stopped at an ice cream parlour at about 11.30 pm when the incident occurred.
The women claimed that the men asked them to roll down their windows and even took out a sharp object to threaten them, reports said.
Police is now looking into the case and has assured action soon.
