Shimla remains cut-off as heavy snowfall disrupts life
Shimla, Jan 9 (IBNS) : Shimla and few other parts of Himachal Pradesh remained cut-off by road from rest of the state for the third consecutive day because of heavy snowfall, reports said.
The season's first snowfall that started in the night of Janyary 6-7 threw normal life out of gear disrupting road traffic and snapping power as trees and electric poles lay on roads over an extensive area.
More than a foot of snow lay heaped on many roads in Shimla, the "Queen of hills," and Manali, another popular tourist destination while the chill in the air kept mercury down in the sub-zero level causing tap water to freeze.
Several tourists reportedly remained stranded in Shimla while many vehicles got stuck up on roads, the reports said.
