Shashi Tharoor again praises Modi
Jaipur, Jan 23 (IBNS) Congress leader Shashi Tharoor seems to have done it yet again. In his remarks at the Jaipur Literature Festival while reading from his book he was heard again praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi though tempered with some criticism.
Shashi Tharoor credited Modi for pursuing a "politics of identity to politics of performance" and said "Modi could earn his place in history but we in the opposition are not yet convinced."
He, however, also criticised Modi for other retrograde elements in his regime with various actions and said they could be his undoing too.
Tharoor said while development is the focus of Modi government, he is "giving a free rein to retrograde elements rewriting text books, praising ancient science over modern science."
Tharoor was slammed by the Congress party earlier too for his praise of Modi. Interestingly, Modi also chose Tharoor for his invitation to celebrities to take part in the Clean India campaign.
Tharoor is in news over the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar whose mysterious death is being probed by Delhi Police as a case of murder.
He was questioned by Delhi Police and might be questioned again.
Tharoor was questioned at Vasant Vihar Police Station recently and he reportedly admitted a marital discord, said media reports.
The Delhi Police had registered a murder case for Sunanda Pushkar, who was Tharoor’s third wife, earlier this month. Pushkar was found dead in a five-star hotel in Delhi a year ago.
Sources said a medical report submitted by doctors in December last year establishes that Pushkar was poisoned.
Earlier in November, the Congress parliamentarian had written to the Delhi Police chief appealing him to carry out a probe which should be free of political pressure or a pre-determined outcome.
