Ruckus in Parliament over Masarat Alam's release
New Delhi, Mar 9 (IBNS): The Opposition parties on Monday created ruckus in the Lok Sabha over the release of separatist leader Masarat Alam from a prison in Jammu and Kashmir last week.
The Congress demanded for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on the issue.
Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said: "If people like Masarat Alam are released then it raises a question on democracy."
Opposition MPs were seen shouting slogans against the decision of releasing Alam from prison and demanded for Modi's statement on the issue.
In the Rajya Sabha BSP supremo Mayawati raised the issue and said the entire nation is criticising the decision taken by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday released senior Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and chairman of Muslim League Masarat Alam.
His release comes days after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed asked police to start releasing political prisoners against whom there are no criminal charges.
