Rajya Sabha to discuss Gaza violence today
News Delhi, July 21 (IBNS): The Rajya Sabha, upper house of parliament in India, will have a short discussion on the issue of Gaza violence on Monday in which over 430 Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured in the Israeli offensive.
The Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had finally agreed to hold a discussion last week following demands of the Oppositions.
A resolution is also expected as the government capitulated after two days of adjournments in the upper house.
Earlier on Wednesday, foreign minister Sushma Swaraj had declined any discussion on the international crisis saying India shares diplomatic ties with both Israel and Palestine.
Swaraj had said that any discourteous reference to any friendly country could impact India’s relations with them.
