Punjab minister Majithia quizzed by ED
Jalandhar, Dec 26 (IBNS): Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia was interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday in connection with a multi-crore international synthetic drugs racket that busted last year, media reports said.
Majithia is the younger brother of Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal who is also married to Punjab deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The 38-year-old minister arrived at the ED’s regional office in Jalandhar at around 11 am. The investigating agency had issued summon notice to Majithia asking him to appear before the panel.
A Rs. 6,000-crore international synthetic drugs racket had busted in 2013.
Formerly Punjab revenue minister, Majithia was divested of the NRI Affairs portfolio and had to relinquish the post of the president of Youth Wing of the Akali Dal after his name was dragged into the scam.
