Police: Local villagers used as human shield in Chhattisgarh attack
Sukma (Chhattisgarh), Dec 2 (IBNS): Maoist rebels who ambushed a paramilitary patrol in Chhattisgarh killing 14 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans on Monday allegedly used villagers as human shields during the attack so that the soldiers could not retaliate, media reports said.
CRPF officers said the Naxals were using local villagers as shields so our troops couldn't retaliate.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will reach Raipur at about noon on Tuesday.
“It is an act of cowardice. I strongly condemn this dastardly act of violence. It is a challenge for the entire country,” Singh said on Mondayevening.
Sources said a helicopter will take off from Jagdalpur shortly to airlift the bodies of soldiers and the 12 CRPF men injured from the violence-hit Chintagufa base. They will be brought to Raipur for medical treatment.
According to reports, the Maoists attacked security forces when they were carrying out an operation deep inside the forests in Sukma region.
