Masarat sent to custody till Apr 23
Srinagar, Apr 18 (IBNS) A local court in Kashmir has sent senior Hurriyat Leader Masarat Aalam Bhat to police custody till Apr 23, officials said.
According to a official, Masarat was produced before a judge last evening who sent him to police custody till Apr 23.
The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested Masarat in connection with “provocative” actions during a rally in Srinagar after Geelani returned to valley after spending half year in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Geelani, Shabir Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan remained under house detention for the second consecutive day.
A youth was killed when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel opened fire on protesters in Srinagar’s Narbal area in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, a day after violent clashes between protesters and police and the fresh turmoil over the arrest of separatist leader Masarat Alam.
Reports said that early Saturday morning, severe clashes took place between some youth and police in the area. The youth were protesting
against the Tral killing and arrest of several separatist leaders by the state government.
Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a complete shutdown in Kashmir.
