Lalit Modi returns to cricket as as RCA chief
Mumbai, May 6 (IBNS) Expelled Indian Premier League (IPL) former chief Lalit Modi on Tuesday returned to the Indian cricket paradigm by becoming the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
On Jan 2, in a bid to prevent Modi's return, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had moved the Supreme Court.
The BCCI filed a petition in the apex court where it said that Modi's association with the RCA will affect the Indian cricketbody's image.
The RCA election was held on Dec 19.
Modi had contested the polls.
The BCCI on Dec 28 said it will take strict disciplinary action against any delinquent member sending a warning to the statecricket body.
"It was further decided that subject to the decision of the Supreme Court, strict disciplinary action should be taken against the delinquent member while protecting the interest of the game in the state of Rajasthan," said a statement issued by BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel earlier.
