Kejriwal faces flaks for advising ministers to file defamation against media
New Delhi, May 11 (IBNS) Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal faces flaks after his government issued a circular asking ministers to file defamation cases against the media if needed.
The Editors Guild of India has deplored the controversial circular, saying it is a 'crude attempt' to 'still' media criticism.
The Guild has demanded immediate withdrawal of the circular.
Attacking the media, Kejriwal on Sunday said, "Media keeps showing us in negative light but don't worry about that as people of Delhi is happy with. Despite seeing media, people gave us 67 seats."
He also said AAP is not planning to launch any news channel. "As far as starting a media house is concerned, we don't want to do that. There are good people in media too, who are not happy. If some senior people come together and want to start a news channel or news paper, the government will definitely help them. We also want a honest media house which only shows news," he said.
The Opposition called AAP's move a hypocrisy since the chief minister has asked his ministers to use the same laws that he challenged in the defamation cases he himself faces.
