Kalam's body taken out from Delhi for hometown Rameswaram for last rites
New Delhi, Jul 29 (IBNS) The body of former President APJ Abdul Kalam was flown out from Delhi to Madurai in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday morning, it will be taken by helicopter to Rameswaram, his hometown.
Reports said the funeral will be held in Rameswaram at 11 am on Thursday.
It will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.
Till 7 on Tuesday evening, a stream of people paid tribute to Kalam at 10 Rajaji Marg, his home in Delhi for the last seven years. Among them were a group of children who carried roses.
Kalam, a scientist of eminence and Bharat Ratna, died following a massive heart attack while speaking at a programme of Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, on Monday.
