Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist hideout busted, huge cache of arms, ammo seized in Ramban
Jammu: Security forces have busted a terrorist hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The police spokesman here on Wednesday said that acting on specific information regarding presence of cache of arms, ammunition and related material in the far flung hilly and forested area of tehsil Khari of District Ramban, a joint search operation was carried out last evening by Police and Army.
The searches were launched in the forest area and suspected hideout locations during which security forces busted a terrorist hideout and arms and ammunition among other items were recovered from the spot.
The recovery included, 7.62 mm Cartridges (256), 7.62 mm empty cartridges (36), AK-47 Magazine (5), nine mm cartridges (34), nine mm empty cartridges (1), nine mm empty magazine (2), Pika ammunition (2), Pika empty cartridges (16), Pika Belt (1), 52 mm mortar (1), detonator (4), Cordex (2 feet), knife (1), Lantern (1), Kerosene Lamp (1), tape recorder (1), walkman with headphone (1), audio cassettes (5), perfume (1), watch (1), old bags (2), LMG ammunition belt box (1) and two identity cards.
The spokesman added that a case has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The entire operation was led by Major Mayank, police party of police post Khari headed by PSI Rajnish Pangotra, SOG Banihal headed by Inspector Hargopal Singh under the command of Inspector Mohammad Afzal Wani SHO, Police Station Banihal, under the supervision of DySP Pardeep Sen, Incharge SDPO Banihal with the overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Ramban.
