India never opened a window of opportunity for talks : Pakistan
New Delhi, June 6 (IBNS) : Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Adviser on Foreign Affairs, has said that India never opened a window of opportunity for dialogue and goodwill with Pakistan.
Pakistan's leading daily Dawn has quoted Aziz as saying on Sunday that all the development towards peace procss was sabotaged when the talks between the countries were postponed after the Pathankot attack.
"It is a very strange thing to say as it was decided here on December 9 that the dialogue will resume but then the Pathankot incident occurred and everything vanished into thin air," Aziz said while speaking during Geo News show 'Naya Pakistan'.
His reaction follows Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's recent statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had opened a "window of goodwill and dialogue" with Pakistan but there has been a lack of sincerity by Islamabad.
"Prime Minister Modi opened a window of opportunities when he visited Pakistan Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif). I think that window is slowly closing. Before it closes, Pakistan needs to develop that trust with India on its sincerity on the approach," Parrikar had said.
The India-Pakistan talks, which had started during External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's visit to Islamabad for the Heart of Asia conference, received a jolt after the January 2 attack on Pathankot airbase in which seven Indian security personnel were killed.
India has accused Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group for the attack, demanding action against the terror group as a condition for resumption of the dialogue.
