GNIT collaborate to provide BTech graduates with Chartered Engineer certificate
Kolkata, Mar 15 (IBNS): Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and The Institution of Engineers (India) jointly hosted the grand inaugural ceremony of Six Student Chapters recently at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Panihati.
The event was graced by Dr. Sayed Majid Ali, Director, IE (I), Dr. S. Bhattacharya, Secretary and Director General, IE (I).
(Prof.) Dr. Santanu Kumar Sen, Principal, GNIT said in his address, “ The students were delighted to learn that for the first time in West-Bengal, a student from GNIT will pass out with B.Tech degree under Makaut along with Chartered engineer certificate offered by IE(I) to augment the collaborative joint venture activities for sustainable and innovation oriented development."

"The venture shall enhance the objective of GNIT in producing global standard professionals and also would ensure each students being conferred the coveted Chartered Engineer status after completion of degree.”
Guru Nanak Institute of Technology inaugurated Six Student Chapters in collaboration with IE (I), namely with Departments, i.e.: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Food Technology.Established in 1920 and formally inaugurated in 1921, the Institute of Engineers (India) was granted Royal Charter by His Majesty the King George V of England in 1935. It has more than one million members catering to fifteen engineering disciplines across 125 centers globally.
Dr. Sayed Majid Ali, Director, IE (I) said, “Research and development Grants of Rs 1.5 lac for BTech/ MTech Projects attracted appealed to everyone. Technical Activities, Seminars and Workshops in collaboration with IEI and it’s FOR A opened new avenues for the students and faculty members of GNIT. To keep pace with latest development in Engineering and Technology the Institute of Engineers (India) members will give access to IEI Journals: Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D and Series E. "

"The members will also be benefitted with Seminar, Symposia and Workshop conducted by various Centers / Chapters of IEI. For UG, PG and PhD students under guidance of faculty, who is a Corporate Member of IEI, Research Funding, will be available. The members will also get access to Professional Bodies having Bilateral Links with IEI, i.e.: ASME, Association of Engineers, IEEE, ASCE, ICE, SAICE, VDI and many more. The members will also get an opportunity to register for Certification of Professional Engineers (PE) and International Professional Engineers (IntPE).”
