
Elected President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev takes charge
The Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan held a solemn ceremony on Friday for the inauguration of the elected President of the Central Asian country.
At the ceremony, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev noted that the presidential elections were held in accordance with the updated Constitution and democratic principles, in an atmosphere of political activity.
According to the voting results, a candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party Shavkat Mirziyoyev was elected to the post of President of Uzbekistan, who received 87.05 percent of the vote.
The CEC Chairman presented Shavkat Mirziyoyev with a certificate of the President of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the Constitution of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev took the oath.
Then President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered an inaugural speech.
He noted that Uzbekistan is entering a new era.
The coming period will be a time of deep, turning point changes and huge transformations in the political, socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres for the country.
New time needs new ideas and initiatives, new results.
The head of state outlined strategic goals for the next seven years.
These are the improvement of legislative and executive power, the creation of a compact and efficient management system, the development of the social sphere, the expansion of opportunities for entrepreneurship, the increase in jobs and incomes of the population.
The principles of "green" economy and "green" energy will be more widely implemented. The volume of investments in the country's economy will increase several times. An important goal has been set - by 2030 to bring the volume of gross domestic product to 160 billion dollars.
During his speech, the head of state addressed the youth.
“My dear sons and daughters, today history itself, time itself opens up unprecedented opportunities for you. You are capable of great deeds that will be inscribed in golden letters in the history of Uzbekistan,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is strong with its multinational people living as a united and friendly family. The country will continue to remain a space of humanism and tolerance.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the consistent continuation of a deeply thought-out foreign policy and economic diplomacy.
The main goal will be to further strengthen relations with the states of the region, to raise cooperation with foreign partners and international organizations to a new level.
Solving the problems of ecology and environmental protection, as well as the shortage of water resources, will remain an urgent task.
