Don't support Giriraj's remarks: Modi
New Delhi, Apr 22 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has said he does not support his party leader Giriraj Singh's recent remarks that all opponents of the Gujarat CM will be sent to Pakistan.
"Nobody can support Giriraj Singh's remarks, " Modi said in an interview to ABP News.
"If you have followed my speech after winning the 2002 elections, I had said that the government belongs to those who have voted me to power, it also belongs to those who did not vote for me...and it also belongs to those who never went to vote. The mantra of my government is Abhayam...Abhyam and Abhayam (Absence of fear)," he said.
He also condemned the controversial remarks on his Twitter posts and urged the leaders to refrain themselves from making such statements.
"Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP's well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development & good governance," Modi wrote.
"I disapprove any such irresponsible statement & appeal to those making them to kindly refrain from doing so," he said.
This comes after his party's Bihar leader Giriaj Singh said said those who opposes Narendra Modi will find 'no place' to stay in India after the results of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls are declared.
"Those who want to stop Narendra Modi are looking towards Pakistan. They won't get a place in India in future. They will have to go to Pakistan," Singh had said while addressing a gathering in Jharkhand.
He reportedly made the remarks in the presence of former BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
