Demonetisation crisis: Banks asked to use indelible ink while exchanging notes
New Delhi, Nov 15 (IBNS): To foil the attempts of some to turn black money into white amid the nationwide demonetisation crisis, banks have been directed by the union government to use indelible ink while exchanging banned Rs. 500 and 1,000 notes, said media reports on Tuesday.
While the ATM counters were dry since Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the position regarding the supply and availability of currency notes yesterday late evening and took certain decisions to further activate the dispensing of cash through the networks of Banking Correspondents (BCs), Post Offices, ATMs, Banks and E-payment systems.
But no bank ATM functioned in the morning hours in many places in India, including in cities like Kolkata.
Amid the opposition outcry, Narendra Modi on Monday assured his party members that his government has the support of the people.
Modi met with BJP parliamentarians in the evening and told them "the country is with the government," media reports said.
