Awaiting heavy rains, schools, colleges to remain shut in Chennai
Chennai, Nov 9 (IBNS) All educational institutions will remain shut in Puducherry, Chennai and adjoining districts Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur as heavy rains, triggered by a depression, are expected to pound an extensive region on Monday. Reports, however, said the cyclone threat is over.
The cyclonic depression, which is moving across the Bay of Bengal, is expected to cross between Puducherry and Karaikal on Monday noon.
Under the influence of the cyclonic depression, rainfall is expected in most parts of Tamil Nadu with heavy to very heavy rainfall over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Kerala during the next 24-48 hours.
