Angry Bihar CM dubs hospitals condition unsatisfactory
Patna, Oct 6 (IBNS): Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was angry at the condition of a government hospital located in Patna where those injured in the Dussehra stampede last week were being treated, reports said.
The CM found doctors missing from their duties, dirty bed-sheets and ill-maintained bathrooms at the hospital during his visit on Sunday.
Manjhi termed the conditions as “unsatisfactory” and said he would take action against the hospital, sources said.
“People were not on duty. The doctors were out...About eighty percent of the prescribed medicines were unavailable and they were being bought from outside,” the angry CM said after his visit.
He visited the surgical, urology and orthopedic wards of the hospital. Manjhi noticed that there were patients who had been there for 45 days but doctors had not begun any treatment.
The CM said that doctors did not make regular rounds of the wards and seldom checked on patients.
At least 33 people died and 28 were injured in the stampede at the Gandhi Maidan on October 3 evening soon after Dussehra celebrations. The injured were admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
