Rainfall and floods continue to ravage Manipur, Mizoram and parts of Assam
Imphal, Jun 15 (IBNS): Heavy rains continue to affect life in the north eastern states of Manipur, Mizoram and parts of Assam on Thursday, according to media reports on Thursday.
On Thursday, Manipur's Churachandpur area was hit by an earthquake measuring 3 on the Richter Scale at around 1:14hrs, media reported.
Continuous rain in the last 48 hours has resulted in flash floods in many low-lying areas in Manipur, including Heingang, the home constituency of the state's chief minister Nongthembam Biren Singh, media reported.
The overflowing rivers have also breached a part of the road connecting Manipur and Nagaland with Assam.
On Tuesday, N BirenSingh along with state Irrigation and Flood Control Minister, Letpao Haokip, visited flood-affected areas to take stock of the situation.
Mizoram too has been affected by landslides and flash floods and the situation was grim when reports last came in on Wednesday, media reported.
