Police arrive Justice CS Karnan's residence to execute Supreme Court warrant
Kolkata, Mar 17 (IBNS) : A huge police force, led by the West Bengal Police arrived at Calcutta High Court judge Justice CS Karnan's home in Kolkata on Friday to execute the warrant ordered by Supreme Court in a contempt case, reports said.
In an unprecedented move, the top court ordered the Bengal police chief last week to "personally" serve the warrant to Justice Karnan after he skipped hearing in a contempt case.
Chief Justice of India JS Khehar and six more judges had summoned Justice Karnan in connection with a contempt case in February after he accused several members of the judiciary of being corrupt.
The top court's order followed another unprecedented event as Justice Karnan called a "court" on the lawns of his home and ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the seven Supreme Court judges who had issued a contempt notice against him.
