PM Modi pays tribute to 2001 parliament attack soldiers
New Delhi, Dec 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and other parliamentarians on Saturday paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives during the deadly terror attack on Parliament in 2001.
“Their sacrifices are etched in our memory,” PM Modi tweeted.
Altogether nine people were killed on December 13, 2001 as five heavily-armed terrorists had stormed the Parliament complex in New Delhi and opened fire. The five terrorists were also shot dead.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among others who also paid tribute on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack.
