One Delhi Police constable shot dead, another injured by attackers
New Delhi, Oct 13 (IBNS): A Delhi Police constable was killed and another was seriously injured when a group of unidentified people opened fire targeting the cops who had confronted them on finding their activities suspicious in the wee hours of Monday in Outer Delhis Vijay Vihar, media reports said.
Delhi Police Constable Jagbir died on the spot while another constable Narendra was critically injured in the firing. He is now admitted at a city hospital.
Police said the incident took place at around 2 am on Monday when the two constables were on night patrol on their motorcycle.
The duo found some persons, around three to four in number, sitting in an auto in L block, gali no.7. The policemen found their activities quite suspicious and started questioning them.
“When they could not come up with satisfactory answers, the two constables sat in the auto to take them to nearby Vijay Vihar police station. The suspects then opened fire on both the constables from close range and escaped,” police sources said.
An FIR was registered with the police. The attackers took away the policemen’s arms while escaping the scene.
Earlier, three men had opened fire on two constables in Connaught Place area on Saturday night. No one was injured in the incident and one of the attackers was arrested.
