Odisha: Man forced to carry daughter's body as ambulance driver refuses service
Bhubaneshwar, Sep 3 (IBNS): A father had to carry his seven year old daughter's body for six km in Malkangiri district of Odisha after an ambulance driver allegedly forced him to get off, reported the media on Saturday.
On Friday, the parents of the seven-year old girl were taking her to the Malkangiri District Hospital where the girl was referred to by a local hospital.
According to local reports, the driver allegedly asked the parents to get down when he came to know that the girl has died on the way.
The incident came to light when the local people noted the parents walking with the body of their daughter and informed the administration.
The Chief District Medical Officer has been asked to look into the matter.
An FIR has also been filed at the Malkangiri police station against the driver of the ambulance, as well the pharmacist and attendant, who were also travelling with the family in the ambulance, media reported.
The media had reported a near similar incident in August when Dana Majhi of Odisha's Kalahandi district was forced to walk about 10 km carrying his wife's body on his shoulders after the district hospital allegedly denied a hearse.
