Odisha hospital fire: Owner surrenders
Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (IBNS): The owner of an Odisha hospital where fire broke out on Monday, killing at least 20 people, has surrendered, media reports said on Thursday.
Manoj Nayak has been arrested, reports said.
Commissioner of police Y B Khurania was quoted as saying by The Times of India: "He surrendered in the intervening night of Wednesdayand Thursday. He is being interrogated after arrest."
The police had earlier issued look out notice against Manoj Nayak and his wife Saswati Das.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced ex-gratia relief for the victims of the fire accident in Bhubaneswar SUM Hospital in Odisha.
He sanctioned an ex-gratia relief of Rs.2 lakh each to the next of kin of the persons deceased and Rs.50,000 each to the persons, who got seriously injured in the fire accident.
The amounts were sanctioned from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
The massive fire at the hospital claimed 20 lives and left 100 others injured on Monday.
The hospital's medical superintendent and three others were arrested on Tuesday.
Three employees of the Bhubaneswar's SUM Hospital have also been suspended by the authorities.
Patients were evacuated and shifted to other hospitals in the city.
