No non-sense with Indian woman's pride: Uma Bharti on Padmavati row
New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS): Taking a stand on the Padmavati row, Union minister Uma Bharti said on Saturday that there should be no non-sense with Indian woman's pride.
Bharti's comment came at a time director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been alleged to tampering facts in his upcoming period film, Padmavati.
The minister expressed his stand on Twitter saying: "I stand firm. No non-sense with Indian woman's pride - past, present or future."
In an early tweet, Bharti even suggested a way to end the row.
Bharti suggested to form a committee of historians, filmmakers, protesters and censor board to resolve the issue.
Rajasthan's Chittorgarh witnessed a complete shut down on Friday as a protest against the alleged distorted presentation of facts in Bhansali's film.
Earlier, a rangoli inspired by an upcoming Bollywood film Padmavati was vandalised by a group of people in Gujarat's Surat prompting Padukone, who is playing the role of Padmavati in the film, to strongly react.
Slamming the attack, Padukone urged union Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani to take action against the attackers.
"Absolutely heart breaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork!disgusting and appalling to say the least!," Deepika tweeted.
"Who are these people?Who is responsible for their actions?For how long are we going to let this go on?," she said.
"Allow them to take law into their own hands & attack our freedom & right to individual expression time & again!?," she said.
"This has to stop NOW & action must be taken! @smritiirani" the actor said.
