"Media has taken contract to finish off AAP" : Kejriwal
New Delhi, May 4 (IBNS) Launching a tirade against the media, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said the fourth estate has accepted a supari (contract) to finish off his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Kejriwal, whose party has been going through a turmoil over internal conflict and has faced embarrassment over the alleged faking of degree by Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar, has also called for a "public trial" of the media.
He made the remarks on Sunday while defending Tomar while speaking at the launch of a multimedia web site in Delhi.
"There is a need for a public trial of the media to expose their bias," the Chief Minister said.
He alleged that "a section of the media" had tried everything to tarnish AAP's image.
"Why did not television channels highlight issues related to Gadkari but leave no stone unturned to showcase AAP issues? We need transparency in the media," he said.
Kejriwal said he was satisfied with Mr Tomar's clarification while alleging that the law minister was being hounded by the media.
"I am not Tomar's relative or friend. I had sought an explanation from Tomar on the controversy. He gave a satisfactory answer and said he wasn't at fault as his degree is genuine," he said.
The Chief Minister said a Right to Information query seeking details about Mr Tomar's law degree from a Bihar university was moved on a wrong roll number. "It was done to taint his image," he said.
