Lakhimpur Kheri violence: UP govt opposes minister's son's bail plea
New Delhi/IBNS: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday opposed Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish Mishra's bail plea in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, media reports said.
Additional Advocate General for Uttar Pradesh Garima Prashad said as quoted by NDTV, "It is a grave and heinous crime and (granting bail) will send a wrong signal to society."
Prashad said this when she was asked by a bench of Justices Surya Kant and JK Maheshwari on what ground she was opposing the bail plea.
On Oct 3, eight people lost their lives, including farmers, who were allegedly mowed down by a car belonging to Ashish Mishra.
The incident had triggered a huge row with several opposition political parties training guns at the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh.
