Congress never did anything to gain poll benefits: Sonia
New Delhi, Aug 20 (IBNS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said her party has never done anything just to reap poll benefits while vowing to bring the party back to its glory days.
Speaking at a Congress function for women workers and elected representatives on the 70th birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, she said to bring back the lost glory of Congress no stone should be left unturned.
"The road may be long and we may have to work hard, but we can do it by doing work unitedly. If we work hard, Congress will again be on the top," she said addressing Congress workers.
She said her husband Rajiv Gandhi had been for 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament. She said the head hangs in same when over the news of atrocities in women like domestic violence and rape.
Congress observed the day as 'Sankalp Diwas', with daylong programme at the Talkatora Stadium here.
