Capt Amarinder Singh takes oath as Punjab CM, Sidhu among nine other Ministers sworn-in

Chandigarh, Mar 17 (IBNS) : Captain Amarinder Singh, 75, took oath as Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday morning heading a Congress Government in the state after ten years, reports said.
Along with him, nine ministers, including cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had joined the Congress severing ties with BJP before elections, took oath.
Punjab Governor V P Singh Bandore administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Top Congress leaders, including Vice President Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Congratulations @capt_amarinder on taking oath as CM. Wishing you the very best in working for Punjab's development.
Among the nine ministers are Brahm Mohindra, the party's senior-most legislator, four-time lawmaker Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, and Rana Gurjit Singh.
The leader of the Congress legislature party Charanjit Singh Channi and Nabha legislator Sadhu Singh Dharamsot also took oath.
Captain Amarinder Singh's cabinet also includes Manpreet Singh Badal, nephew of outgoing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Manpreet Badal was finance minister in the Badal Government of the Akali Dal before he formed the People's Party of Punjab, which later merged with the Congress.
The Congress won 77 of Punjab's 117 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party came second bagging 20 and the Akali Dal-BJP combine won 15.
