Actress Chrisann Pereira, who was jailed in UAE, returns home
New Delhi: Bollywood actress Chrisann Pereira, who was jailed in Sharjah over her suspected involvement in a narcotics trafficking case, has returned to India after the UAE authorities dropped all charges against her.
According to sources, the authorities in the middle-east nation removed Chrisann's name from the no-fly list and permitted her to take a flight back to Mumbai after dropping the charges for which she was detained in April.
The Bollywood actress, whose credits include Sadak 2 and Batla House, arrived in Mumbai late on Wednesday night.
Her arrival was confirmed by the joint commissioner of police (Crime) Lakhimpur Gautam.
The Mumbai police investigated the matter and identified the suspect who had planted the drugs to frame the actress.
Kevin Pereira, Chrisann's brother, posted a video on social media of Chrisann hugging her family members as she exited the airport.
As she held them, she was unable to hold back her tears.
"Chrisann is finally back and reunited with us," her brother said in the caption of the video he uploaded.
"Although I had stated in June that she would return, this finally happened after a little while," Kevin said.
