Three soldiers killed in in terror attack on army camp near Jammu
Srinagar, Nov 29 (IBNS) : Three soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked an army artillery unit in Jammu and Kashmir's Nagrota on Tuesday morning, media reports said.
Heavily armed suicide attackers entered the unit at 5.30 am with grenades and opened indiscriminate firing on officers' mess..
Reports said the three terrorists are also believed to have been killed but at least one more is still hiding.
Nagrota, which is around 20 km from Jammu, is the headquarters of the army's 16 Corps.
Reports said the unit is highly fortified, especially with a thick forest and a river forming natural hindrances on two sides.
The army has cordoned off the area and all schools have been shut down. Traffic has been stopped on the highway,.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said: "Statistics have shown the attack is on military installations. Civilians not being targeted."
In a second incident, the Border Security Force gunned down three terrorists who were attempting to cross over at the International Border at the Samba sector.
In September, 19 soldiers were killed when terrorists from Pakistan attacked an army base in Uri.
Several other terror attack on the army also took place in recent times.
