Supreme Court reinstates transferred Kerala DGP
New Delhi, Apr 22 (IBNS) : In a setback to the LDF-led Kerala Government, the Supreme Court on Monday reinstated transferred Director General of Police (DGP) TP Senkumrear, media reports said.
The apex court also quashed the Kerala government's 2016 order sacking Senkumar.
The court order came after Senkumar had challenged his transfer by the Pinarayi Vijayan Government.
In his petition, the top cop alleged that the state Government's decision to remove him from the post of DGP was an act of political vengeance for the probe into the murders of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) founder TP Chandrasekharan and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) youth activist Abdul Shukoor, in which CPI (M) leaders were involved.
For Senkumar it's big victory as the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) and the HC had earlier rejected his petitions challenging the Governmnt's decision.
