SC scraps AIPMT, directs CBSE to conduct fresh exams within 4 weeks
New Delhi, June 15 (IBNS): In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court on Monday scrapped the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for admission to the MBBS course and directed the CBSE to conduct a fresh entrance examination within four weeks time.
The apex court has also directed all institutions concerned to extend cooperation in conducting a re-examination for the MBBS course.
This comes after the entrance examination has been marred in controversy over leak of paper.
The Haryana police had earlier asked the court to cancel the exam in view of the fact that several beneficiaries have been identified.
The board was scheduled to declare the results on June 5 .
However, a group of students moved court seeking cancellation of the exam following news of the paper leak.
Around 6.3 lakh students appeared for the exam, of whom 3,722 will get admission to medical institutes across India.
