SC rejects PIL seeking financial ban for Kashmiri separatists
New Delhi, Sept 16 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a PIL seeking ban on central funds for Kashmiri separatists, media reports said.
The apex court also asked the lawyers to refrain from using the word separatists in court for Hurriyat leaders.
"It's a matter of perception. Has the government declared them separatists? The conduct of a man may not be to the liking of others and (so) they call him separatist, but you can't use that term in court," a SC bench of Justice UU Lalit and Justice Dipak Mishra said.
Countering the PIL, where it was said that over a 100 crore is spent to provide cover for these leaders, who indulges in anti-national activities, the court said that it is within the domain of the executive to provide protection to a citizen who faces threats.
"Security issues cannot be handled through judicial proceedings and courts must desist (from) entertaining such issues," the bench added.
