Rahul Gandhi profiling row: BJP likely to raise issue in Parl
New Delhi, Mar 16 (IBNS): The Parliament is likely to witness another storm as the Congress might raise the issue of the visit of police officials to the party office in New Delhi to seek details about Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi last week in the Parliament on Monday.
Questioning PM Narendra Modi over the issue, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Sunday tweeted: "@PMOIndia needs to explain why it needs details of a person protected by the SPG. All his movements are recorded by SPG #Snoopgate2."
"Police sought telephone numbers, addresses of RG's associates & friends. Delhi Police needs to clarify why this info was needed #Snoopgate2," he said.
The former Union Minister said: "Original #Snoopgate involved misuse of Gujarat Govt machinery for surveillance of woman. #Snoopgate2 involves misuse of police vs opponents?"
The Congress on Saturday said it will lodge a protest against the "intrusion" of police into party vice presidentRahul Gandhi's residence.
The Congress has claimed that policemen visiting Gandhi's residence at 12 Tuglak Lane last week, had asked for details like the colour of his eyes and hair.
The Delhi Police has said it was a routine visit as part of a security audit for all members of Parliament and no personal questions were asked.
Gandhi has been on a "leave of absence" since the Lok Sabha started for the budget session. The Congress has said he is "abroad for introspection and soul searching.
