PM Modi invites Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi for talks on GST
New Delhi, Nov 27 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited his predecessor Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for a discussion to and end the standoff on Goods and Services Tax, the government's most cherished tax reform, reports said.
This is the first time that the prime minister has invited the main leaders of the opposition to break the stalemate.
The government is keen on pushing through the bill despite the stiff opposition from the Congress and other opposition parties. Talks between the two sides have so far yielded no results.
The Congress has repeatedly accused the government of failing to bring the opposition on board.
