Parrikar pays visit to J&K to review security situation
Srinagar, Dec 11 (IBNS): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visited Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday for the first time after assuming charge, media reports said.
The visit came days after the recent suicide attack on an Army camp in Uri near the Line of Control (LoC).
Parrikar paid homage at the War Memorial at the Badamibagh headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps to eight soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, who were killed in the attack on the Uri camp on December 5.
Sources said the Defence minister will be briefed by senior army officers about the security situation in the Valley and especially along the Line of Control. He will be briefed about the counter-infiltration grid in place along the LoC and the counter-insurgency grid in the hinterland.
