J Jayalalithaa undergoes treatment,supporters gather outside hospital
Chennai, Dec 5 (IBNS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, is undergoing treatment as her supporters gathered outside the hospital where she is undergoing treatment to pray for her recovery.
Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital on Sept 22 with fever and respiratory problems.
Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao went to the hospital to know about the Chief Minister's health, media reports said.
Hundreds of Jayalalithaa's supporters have gathered outside the hospital.
Security has been increased outside the hospital.
"She is being treated and monitored by a team of experts including Cardiologists, Pulmonologist and the Critical Care Specialists," Chennai’s Apollo Hospital said in a statement on Sunday.
The hospital also tweeted: "The Hon'ble CM is the beloved leader of the masses. Please join us in praying for her speedy recovery. #GodblessAmma #Jayalalithaa."
"Dr Richard Beale from London has also been consulted and he has concurred with the line of treatment by our cardiologists & pulmonologists," it said.
The CM's AIADMK tweeted: "Puratchi Thalaivi Amma suffered a cardiac arrest this evening, Amma is being treated & her health is being monitored by experts.
Meanwhile, president Pranab Mukherjee and other political leaders have wished for the southern leader's speedy recovery.
"Distressed to hear about CM Jayalalithaa suffering a cardiac arrest, my prayers for her speedy recovery #PresidentMukherjee," read a tweet posted on the President of India's Twitter handle.
Office of RG, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's Twitter handle, said: "Praying for Jayalalithaa ji's quick recovery. I hope she gets better very soon."
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: "Very concerned about the health of Jayalalitha Ji. Like my friends in Tamil Nadu, I am praying for her speedy recovery. May God bless her."
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu posted: "Wishing #jayalalithaa Hon CM of TN a speedy recovery, Let her be healthy soon."
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "Deeply concerned about the recent news of Hon'ble CM of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa ji's health condition. I pray for her speedy recovery."
