Ishrat fake encounter: CBI locks horns with MHA
New Delhi, June 11 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made it clear to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that it will not share with the latter the case diary of the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter, said reports on Wednesday.
"According to sources in the MHA, the case diary is needed to decide whether sanction to prosecute four Intelligence Bureau officials in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter killing should be granted or not. The CBI is expected to seek legal opinion on whether the case diary can be handed over to the Home Ministry or not," reported CNN-IBN.
Nineteen-year-old Ishrat was gunned down by the Gujarat Police along with Javed Ghulam Sheikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai, Amjad Ali alias Rajkumar Akbar Ali Rana and Jisan Johar Abdul Gani in Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.
The police alleged that Ishrat and three others were Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants who conspired to assassinate the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
