Govt seeks SC permission to confiscate properties of Dawood's relatives
New Delhi, Jul 11 (IBNS) The government has requested the Supreme Court to allow it to confiscate properties of the relatives of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Media reports said the the government has asked the apex court to permit it to confiscate properties of Dawood Ibrahim's sister and other relatives in Mumbai.
The permission has been sought on grounds that the fugitive don's family members have failed to establish their source of income and lawful acquisition of these properties.
Early this week the Enforcement Directorate sent a Letter Rogatory to the Ministry of External Affairs seeking details of assets of Dawood Ibrahim.
The ED is said to have got information that Dawood had invested laundered money in at least three big properties, including a hotel in the UK.
