Demonetisation: Mamata Banerjee to hold rallies in UP, Punjab, Bihar
Kolkata, Nov 21 (IBNS): Hitting out at the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre over demonetisation issue, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that her party will hold rallies in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab against Narendra Modi's decision of scrapping 500/1000 rupees notes.
Speaking at a press conference at the state secretariat, Banerjee said, "We are going to hold a march on Wednesday here in Kolkata and rallies will be held everywhere across the state on Thursday protesting against the autocratic decision of Modi-government to demonetize 500/1000 Rs notes."
"To fight against the decision, I will hold rallies in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Nov 29, in Bihar on Dec 1 or 2 and in Punjab thereafter," she added.
Banerjee, who is the chairperson of West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress, appealed to the people and other political parties, agitating over the same issue, to join TMC's rallies.
The Chief Minister said that she would visit Delhi on Tuesday evening again to lead an agitation.
Few days earlier, Banerjee shared dais with her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal to address an anti-demonetisation rally in Delhi.
She also led a delegation along with the members of the Shiv Sena to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and lodge a complaint over the issue.
