Can't fight against course of nature: UP Minister on journalist's killing
Lucknow, June 15 (IBNS): Amid outrage over the murder case of journalist Jagendra Singh in UP's Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Minister Parasnath Yadav said "You can't fight against the course of nature."
While one minister of the state is believed to be an accused in the murder case, Yadav told journalists on Sunday: "There are some incidents that happen in the course of nature and destiny."
His remark has sparked more anger and agitation against the Uttar Pradesh government, which has been accused of shielding its minister Ram Murti Verma, accused of ordering the murder of freelance journalist Jagendra Singh.
The journalist's family is on a sit-in protest and is demanding a CBI investigation into the matter. An association of journalists has also joined the protests.
The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier suspended five police officers in connection with the murder case.
Policeman Sri Prakash, who is accused of allegedly murdering the journalist, is also among the suspended cops.
However, no arrests have been made so far in the case.
In the video, which has gone viral on the social media, Singh was seen naming UP minister Ram Murti Singh Verma and his goons.
No action has been taken against SP minister Ram Murti Verma.
The family had earlier alleged pressure by the SP leaders to drop the charges.
This comes after a group of policemen and Verma's aides allegedly barged inside Jagendra's house in Shahjahanpur and set him on fire earlier this month.
